From rain to frost – what to expect from the weather in the coming days

On Tuesday, clouds will bring occasional rain, though in some areas the skies will clear and the sun will shine, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Overnight, fog will form in some regions, and a light to moderate northwesterly and northerly wind will blow, with gusts of up to 15 m/s along the coast. During the second half of the night, the wind will ease and become light.

During the day, a light to moderate westerly wind will prevail, turning northwesterly to northerly along the coast in the afternoon.

Nighttime temperatures will drop to 0…+5°C, while coastal areas will remain slightly milder — around +6…+8°C. During the day, air temperatures will rise to +7…+11°C.

On Wednesday and Thursday,

the weather will be mostly cloudy, though the sun may break through at times.

In many parts of the country, occasional rain is expected.

Fog may form overnight and in the early morning hours, reducing visibility in some places. A light to moderate westerly wind will blow, but on the night to Wednesday, westerly and northwesterly gusts along the coast could reach up to 14 m/s.

On Wednesday night, temperatures will fall to +3…+7°C, or +7…+9°C along the Kurzeme coast, while daytime highs will reach +7…+12°C.

Thursday will be slightly warmer by a few degrees.

Toward the end of the week, cyclonic activity will continue to shape the weather, bringing rain to many areas. However, the wind will ease, with a light westerly breeze dominating.

Air temperatures will remain within +5…+10°C, but over the weekend, colder air is expected to move into Latvia, with nighttime temperatures nearing 0°C in some places.
