A new look for Latvia’s police – uniforms now include skirts

On Tuesday, the government approved amendments to regulations introducing a new-style peaked cap and skirts as part of the official police uniform.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, modern uniforms are not only an important factor shaping public perception and strengthening the image and recognition of law enforcement institutions, but they also play a crucial role in helping officers perform their duties effectively.

In developing the new designs, feedback from State Police and Police College officers was taken into account to ensure modern, high-quality, and comfortable uniforms suitable for the specific working conditions of service.

The new peaked cap will be available in two versions – with a metal cockade and with a woven cockade. The most notable addition to the uniform set is the option of skirts.

The changes officially add these new items to the regulation governing police uniforms in Latvia.
