On Tuesday, skies over Latvia will be mostly cloudy with only occasional sunshine. Both during the night and throughout the day, rain is expected in most parts of the country, and in some areas heavy downpours and thunderstorms are likely, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
A slow to moderate south to south-westerly wind will blow. In Kurzeme’s coastal areas at night and later during the day also in western and central regions, gusts may reach 15–18 m/s, and by evening in places may exceed 20 m/s. Daytime air temperatures will stay between +15 °C and +20 °C.
On Wednesday, sunny spells will alternate with clouds, which will bring occasional showers in western and central regions, some heavy and accompanied by thunder. At night, the wind will strengthen further along the coast and turn from the southwest and west, with gusts near open sea potentially reaching 24 m/s. Nighttime temperatures will remain between +10 °C and +15 °C, while
daytime temperatures will be around +15 °C to +18 °C.
Thursday will see continued rainy weather across much of the country, though winds will gradually ease, remaining gusty only along the coast, where gusts will no longer exceed 17 m/s.
According to the meteorological centre, towards the end of the week and early next week, the wind may strengthen again on some days, and rain is likely at times in various parts of Latvia. Nighttime temperatures are expected to stay above +10 °C, while daytime temperatures could locally rise slightly above +20 °C.
