Forecast: Thunderstorms and warm weather until the weekend

On Wednesday, the sun will alternate with clouds. By evening, rain is expected in western regions, and later also in parts of the east – with localized heavy downpours and thunderstorms. Overnight into Wednesday, a light to moderate easterly wind will blow, and fog may form in some areas, reducing visibility, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

During the day, the wind will shift from the south and gradually ease. Minimum overnight temperatures will be +14…+17°C in the west, cooler in the east at +9…+14°C. Maximum daytime temperatures will reach +20…+23°C in western Kurzeme, but elsewhere in the country will rise to +23…+27°C.

On Thursday and Friday, skies will be partly cloudy. Rain is expected in some eastern areas, with localized showers and thunderstorms possible overnight. With light winds, fog will form at night and in the mornings in some regions, significantly reducing visibility. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +12…+17°C, while daytime highs will reach +22…+26°C, though in some coastal areas along the Gulf of Riga, daytime temperatures will stay at +20…+22°C.

Over the weekend, the weather will remain similar – occasional sunshine between clouds, with periods of rain and possible thunderstorms. Nights will cool to +15…+17°C, while days will be warm, with temperatures in parts of the east climbing up to +26°C. At the start of next week, daytime temperatures will remain at +18…+22°C, locally even +23…+24°C, though rain is expected, especially in the eastern part of the country.
