Autumn mood already in August – fog, rain, and gusty winds expected

On Friday, skies will be partly cloudy with scattered showers in many places, and there is also a chance of occasional thunder, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

With light winds, fog will form in some areas overnight, reducing visibility. During the day, a light to moderate south and southwest wind will gradually shift to southwest and west. Nighttime temperatures will fall to +6…+11°C, a degree warmer along the coast, while daytime highs will reach only +15…+20°C.

Over the weekend, sunshine will alternate with clouds, bringing scattered showers on both Saturday and Sunday, with isolated thunderstorms possible.

On Saturday night, fog will form in eastern regions.

Winds will be light to moderate, but along the coast on Saturday even moderately strong southwesterly and westerly winds are expected, reaching 15–16 m/s in gusts in western and central Latvia. Nighttime temperatures across most of the country will drop to +6…+11°C, while daytime highs will remain at +13…+18°C.

At the beginning of next week, the synoptic situation over Latvia will remain largely unchanged, with frequent rain showers continuing. Nighttime temperatures will not fall below +6°C, while days will stay relatively cool, with highs not exceeding +20°C.
