First autumn frosts and rain over the weekend – weather forecast for Latvia

On Thursday and Friday, sunshine will alternate with clouds, bringing rain in some areas, while on Friday rain is expected across a wider territory, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

With light winds, fog will form in parts of eastern Latvia on Thursday night, reducing visibility. The night to Thursday will be cool, only +5…+9°C, though slightly warmer along the coast. There is also a chance of the first light autumn frost in some places. On the night to Friday, temperatures will drop to +7…+10°C, a few degrees higher near the coast. During the daytime, air temperatures will rise to +15…+20°C.

Over the weekend, weather will continue to be shaped by a cyclone, with rain clouds appearing across almost the entire country.

The Meteorology Centre notes that

on Saturday rain is expected in many places, with occasional thunderstorms possible at the start of the night.

Rainfall will continue on Sunday as well. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest and south, turning westerly and becoming gusty during the day on Saturday.

Nights will remain chilly, with temperatures falling to +8…+13°C, while daytime highs will not exceed +17°C.

At the start of next week, no major changes are expected – rain clouds will still be observed in many parts of Latvia, winds may remain gusty in places, and air temperatures will stay within a similar range.
