Nearly 900 million euros – Latvia’s total support for Ukraine so far

Latvia has provided more than €890 million in various forms of support to Ukraine to date, Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis (Union of Greens and Farmers) stated in an interview with Latvijas Radio on Thursday.

He noted that this amount – over 890 million euros – represents approximately 0.7% of Latvia’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“We must continue to raise awareness in other countries about the necessity of providing Ukraine with all the support it needs for reconstruction,” Valainis emphasized.

From Wednesday, the 9th of July, to Thursday, Minister Valainis is on a working visit to Rome, Italy, where he will attend the annual high-level conference dedicated to Ukraine’s reconstruction and meet with local business representatives.

The conference “Ukraine Recovery 2025” aims to promote international support and investment for Ukraine’s recovery,

reconstruction, reforms, and modernization, as well as to highlight Ukraine’s progress in implementing reforms and moving toward EU membership. The event will also focus on the support already provided by European countries and the next steps forward.

The conference will be attended by representatives from Southern, Western, Central, and Eastern European countries, including Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the Baltic States, along with a large Ukrainian delegation.

To discuss economic cooperation with Ukraine, Latvia’s business participation in the reconstruction process, and the support provided by Latvia, Minister Valainis is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation, and Simplification, Valdis Dombrovskis (New Unity).

During the visit, Valainis will also meet with executives from Italian companies involved in railway engineering, steel production, defense manufacturing, and other industries.
