Heavy rain and gusty winds expected – cooler weather ahead

On Wednesday morning, a precipitation zone will move across Latvia, bringing rain to the entire country, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Northern and northwesterly winds will strengthen during the day, with gusts reaching 15–17 m/s in the western and central regions. Nighttime temperatures will range from +4 to +7°C, with possible ground frost in the easternmost areas. Daytime temperatures will rise to +8 to +13°C.

On Thursday, the sky will be partly cloudy, and in some places, the sun may appear. Rain is expected in some areas at night and across the country during the day, with heavy downpours possible in the east.

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre reports that northerly and northwesterly winds will continue, remaining gusty along the coast. At night, temperatures will drop to +1 to +6°C, and in some central and eastern regions, may fall to 0 to -1°C, causing ground frost. During the day, temperatures will rise to +6 to +10°C.

Toward the end of the week and early next week, similar weather conditions will persist – rain will fall in many areas, and daytime temperatures will not exceed +9 to +14°C.
