Fog and warmer weather on Thursday, sunny weekend with temperatures up to +15°C

Thursday will be marked by variable cloud cover and no significant precipitation. A light to moderate west-southwest wind will blow, shifting to a south-southwest direction later in the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology, and Meteorology Centre.

During the night and early morning hours on Thursday, fog and mist will develop in some areas. Overnight temperatures will drop below freezing in many parts of the country, while coastal areas will remain slightly warmer. However, as the sun comes out during the day, it will feel noticeably milder, with temperatures reaching up to +10°C in some places.

By the end of the workweek and into the weekend, Latvia will experience distinctly spring-like weather. A warm air mass will move in, and over the weekend, temperatures will approach +15°C. The weather will remain dry and sunny. A light to moderate west-southwest wind will prevail, shifting to a northerly and northeasterly direction on Friday, and then from the east over the weekend.

During the first half of the new week, weather conditions will change. As a cyclone strengthens, clouds will begin to cover the sky from the west on Monday, bringing rain across Latvia on Tuesday. The east wind will gradually shift to a southwesterly and westerly direction, increasing in intensity. By Tuesday, wind gusts could reach up to 14 m/s in most parts of the country.

Nighttime temperatures will no longer drop below freezing, while daytime highs will range between +5°C and +10°C.
