Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson said today that Sweden’s total donations to Ukraine now amount to 2.9 billion US dollars, with additional funding to be allocated to a joint programme with Denmark for the delivery of CV-90 combat vehicles.
The supplies will also include artillery ammunition, the RBS70 air defence system, anti-tank missiles (TOW), hand grenades, various underwater weapons and boats, and Carl Gustaf grenade launchers, thus addressing the critical shortages identified by the Ukrainian army, Jonsson said.
“This support package meets Ukraine’s most urgent needs
and is in line with the military capability coalitions that are forming within the Ukrainian Defence Contact Group,” said Jonson.
According to the Kiel Institute, Sweden is among the leaders in providing military support to Ukraine, along with neighbouring Denmark, Norway and Finland.
