Municipal water supply company Rīgas ūdens plans to increase service tariffs in June, according to the company’s unveiled tariff project.
On the 1st of June onward water tariffs will go up by 10.3% or from 1.17 to 1.29 EUR/m3 (excluding VAT). The sewer tariff will go up by 9.3% or from 0.97 EUR/m3 to 1.06 EUR/m3. The general water supply and sewer tariff will go up from 2.14 to 2.35 EUR/m3 (excluding VAT) or by almost 10%.
In 2026 it is planned to increase the water tariff to 1.31 EUR/m3 and the sewer tariff to 1.09 EUR/m3 (excluding VAT).
“Tariff changes are associated with an increase in depreciation of fixed assets and depreciation of intangible investments, a decrease in the cost of energy resources, an increase in the cost of maintenance and repairs of fixed assets, an increase in other operating costs, as well as a decrease in the volume of water management services,” the company explains the changes.
The Public Utilities Commission approved the new tariff plan from Rīgas ūdens at the end of January. The new plan provides for increasing tariffs by 2% starting with the 1st of March, when the water supply and sewer tariff will be set at 2.14 EUR/m3 (excluding VAT). With VAT the tariff will be 2.59 EUR/m3.
In 2022 Rīgas ūdens turnover was EUR 65.725 million, which is 17.7% more when compared to 2021. The company’s profits went down by 6.4% and was EUR 5.161 million. In the first nine months of 2023 the turnover of Rīgas ūdens was EUR 45.664 million, profits were at EUR 3.007 million.
