Latvia’s annual inflation was 3.6% in September, below both the European Union (EU) and the euro area average, according to data published by Eurostat on Wednesday, the 18th of October.
The highest rates last month were in Hungary (12.2%), Romania (9.2%), Slovakia (9%), the Czech Republic (8.3%) and Poland (7.7%). Annual inflation was 4.1% in Lithuania and 3.9% in Estonia. The average annual rate was 4.9% in the EU and 4.3% in the euro area.
The lowest annual rates in September were in Denmark (0.6%),
Belgium (0.7%) and Greece (2.4%).
In September, compared with the previous year, consumer prices rose in all EU Member States except the Netherlands, where they fell by 0.3%. In September, compared with August, consumer prices rose by 0.3% in both the EU and the euro area.
In Latvia, compared with August, Consumer prices fell by 0.5% in September. The highest monthly increase was registered in Greece (+1.9%), and the highest monthly decrease in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands (both -0.8%). In Lithuania, consumer prices rose by 0.7% on a monthly basis, while in Estonia fell by 0.1%.
