With winter approaching, President Zelenskiy warned Ukrainians on Sunday, the 12th of November, of possible new Russian attacks on infrastructure, adding that troops expect attacks in the eastern region of the war, reports Reuters.
Following the recent Russian missile attack on Kyiv – the first air strike in seven weeks – Zelenskiy warned and called for preparations for possible intensified drone or missile strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and stressed the need to focus on defence. Zelensky also underlined Ukraine’s efforts to overcome the challenges of winter and to improve the capabilities of its soldiers.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko said on Saturday that Ukraine would have enough energy resources to get through the winter, but added that everything depended on the extent to which further attacks would affect supplies.
Last Wednesday, Ukrainian officials reported
60 Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.
Zelenskiy praised the troops defending Avdiivka since mid-October and, according to military spokesman Oleksandr Shtupun, the number of infantry attacks is decreasing, but the number of air strikes is increasing and the enemy is having to regroup as it suffers significant losses.

The head of the Ukrainian ground forces, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, also pointed to increased Russian activity in the Bakhmut region in an attempt to regain lost positions. Russia claims to have repelled five Ukrainian attacks in the Bakhmut area.
According to Ukrainian military intelligence, three Russian officers from the Russian National Guard or intelligence services were killed in an explosion near a military headquarters in Melitopol. Russian officials have not commented.
