From the 15th May onward it is planned to reduce the heating energy tariff in Riga by approximately 45%, as reported by Rīgas siltums JSC.
The company has submitted to the Public Utilities Commission a new heating tariff for approval. This tariff is planned at 91.26 EUR/MWh (without VAT).
According to information from Rīgas siltums website, the current heating tariff is at 165.32 EUR/MWh.
This means in the middle of May it is planned to reduce the heating tariff by 44.8%.
The company notes that, when compared with the average heating tariff observed in the heating season (180.97 EUR/MWh), the new tariff will be slashed by half.
According to Rīgas siltums board chairman Ilvars Pētersons, tariff reduction is possible because the prices of various types of fuel (natural gas, wood chips and bought energy) are going down. And their prices compose 90% of the heating tariff.
