Latvian PM composes committee for EU funds

Latvian Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš has signed the order for the formation of a thematic committee for EU funds, as confirmed by the PM’s press-secretary Sandris Sabajevs.
He said that in accordance with this order the committee will consist of the following members: Minister of Finances Arvils Ašeradens as chairman, Minister of Education and Science Anda Čakša, Minister of Climate and Energy Raimonds Čudars, Minister of Economics Ilze Indriksone, Minister of Health Līga Meņģelsone, Minister of Welfare Evika Siliņa, Minister of Environment Protection and Regional Development Māris Sprindžuks, Minister of Agriculture Didzis Šmits and Minister of Transport Jānis Vitenbergs as members.
The main tasks of this committee will be reaching an agreement on priority investments and projects, as well as their monitoring. The committee will also discuss possible changes for legislative acts in order to prevent bureaucratic obstacles. This committee is also tasked with reviewing other topics related to EU investments.
The committee will submit reports to the Cabinet of Ministers once every six months.
