Ukraine will provide its residents with warm shelters in case of a blackout and urges to save energy in every way possible, informs Reuters.
Ukraine’s president Volodimir Zelensky told in his daily address on the 22nd of November that everyone affected by blackouts could seek shelter in specialized centers that the government is setting up around the country.
In these centers, heat, water, and communications will be accessible free of charge.
After mass attacks on infrastructure, millions of people in Ukraine are affected by power cuts. Authorities predict that situation will remain the same until spring.
Russia started heavy attacks after it was forced to retreat. Occupants target critical infrastructure, and it severely affects households and the medical system. Hans Kluge, the WHO regional director for Europe, visited Ukraine and stated the dramatic situation in the war-torn country: «Ukraine’s health system is facing its darkest days in the war so far. Having endured more than 700 attacks, it is now also a victim of the energy crisis.» Hospitals lack water, electricity, and fuel.
Meanwhile, in Herson locals are replacing Russian propaganda with pro-Ukrainian signs.
