Zelensky thanks Trump for his readiness to support Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had spoken to US President Donald Trump after the announcement of the arms deal with Ukraine and thanked him for his support, Reuters reported.
Zelensky wrote on the Telegram: “It was a very good conversation. I thanked him for his readiness to support Ukraine and to continue working together to stop the killings and establish a lasting and just peace.” The Ukrainian president said he and Trump agreed to communicate more often and continue to coordinate further steps.
Zelensky also said he had a productive conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who also visited the White House on the 14th of July.
Trump has said he is dissatisfied with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and the US will send Ukraine weapons worth several million dollars. The US president also threatened to

impose sanctions on anyone who buys Russian oil if Russia does not agree to the peace terms.

The arms delivery will also include Patriot systems, which Ukraine desperately needs given the heavy air strikes carried out by Russia.
Zelensky met in Kiev with Trump’s envoy to Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, and discussed strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses and purchasing weapons with European assistance.
Trump began his second term trying to take a more conciliatory approach towards Russia, but in recent weeks he has increasingly expressed dissatisfaction with Putin’s actions.
