On Monday, the 22nd of April, and Tuesday the sky will be covered in clouds that will bring rain to all of Latvia. The rain will also transition into wet snow and snow, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday snowing may result in 5-9 cm of snow forming in western and central regions. This means there is a yellow warning due to intense snowfall. In the evening, as snowing continues, the local layer of snow may reach 10 cm, and the warning will go up to orange level, meteorologists say.
On top of that, there is a risk of local thunderstorms.
Certain roads will become slippery, and visibility will suffer during intensive precipitation. Meteorologists urge motorists to be cautious!
On the night to Monday, from the coast onward, northern and north-eastern wind speed went up, reaching 15-19 m/sec. On Tuesday, however, the wind will calm down and there will be less precipitation. Weather will be cold, as air temperature at night and during the day will be within the range of 0° C… +5° C.
The sun will start shining between the cloud in the middle of the week. On Wednesday there won’t be much precipitation for most of the day. In the evening, a new precipitation zone will reach Latvia from the south, bringing rain, causing the snow to melt. On Thursday the wind will become stronger, but by the evening both the rain and the wind will gradually calm down. The night to Wednesday will be cold, at times air temperature will drop as far as -5° C. During the day, however, warmer masses of air will start flowing to the country. In the middle of the week air temperature will be around +3° C… +8° C.
Atmospheric pressure will gradually go up at the end of the week. Weather will become calmer – less precipitation and slower wind speed. Air temperature at night and during the day will go up – on the weekend air temperature in many parts may exceed +15° C.
