Woman arrested in Ukraine for planning Zelensky’s murder

Ukraine’s security service (SBU)  has informed that a woman has been arrested on suspicion of planning the assassination of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, writes the BBC.
The service said that the woman tried to find out Zelensky’s agenda in June before his visit to the flood-affected Mykolaiv. This is not the first time that local resident has been accused of helping the Russian army.
Zelensky confirmed that he was aware of the arrest and added that the head of the intelligence service had provided the latest information on the fight against traitors. Moscow has not commented on the arrest.
The SBU said in an official statement that

the woman was caught red-handed while trying to pass classified information to the Russians.

The Ukrainian president visited Mykolaiv in June to assess the consequences of the collapse of the Kahovka dam and then in July when the city had come under heavy rocket fire. The SBU was aware of the president’s plans and planned security measures accordingly.
It is assumed that the suspect tried to pass information on the location of electronic warfare systems and ammunition depots to the Russians. According to the SBU,

the suspect lives in a small town in Mykolaiv and worked at an army base store.

The agency did not arrest the woman during the president’s visit, and agents tracked her afterward to get more information about her activities and the assignments she received from the Russians. The woman is said to have gone around the area and photographed the buildings of the Ukrainian army.
The woman is expected to face charges of unauthorized distribution of information affecting the military. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
