After the storms experienced in January, the weather in February is expected to be calm in the coming days. Air temperature will remain below 0° C, but next week it will start getting warmer, according to Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Friday, 4 February, weather will be cloudy with moments of clear sky. A new precipitation zone will pass through Latvia from the west, bringing snow, wet snow and freezing rain to some areas. Ice will form on roads, making driving conditions dangerous. The wind will blow from the south and south-east.
Maximum daytime air temperature will be +1° C… -2° C in western parts and -2° C… -6° C in eastern parts of Latvia.
On the night to Saturday eastern parts of Latvia will experience air temperature of -6° C… -11° C, whereas western parts of the country will experience +1° C… -4° C. During the day, air temperature will reach 0° C… +3° C (-1° C… -3° C in the far north).
Many areas will experience short-term snowing, including wet snow. Some eastern areas may also experience freezing rain.
The wind will be slow and will blow from the south and south-west. Wind speed will reach 15-16 m/sec along the sea cost.
Many parts of Latvia will experience rain, wet snow, as well as some snow in the east. With air temperature up, nights will not be colder than 0° C… -2° C (0° C… +2° C along the coast). Daytime air temperature will reach +1° C… +4° C.
Next week slow to moderate wind will blow in Latvia, meteorologists predict. Weather will remain mostly cloudy but with moments of sunlight. Some precipitation is also expected. Air temperature will gradually rise and reach +5° C during the day. At night, on the other hand, air temperature in Latvia will not drop below -5° C.
