This week weather will be mostly cloudy. At times it will snow and the layer of snow will increase by a couple of centimetres. From the middle of the week, as colder masses of air flow to the country air temperature will go down. At the end of the week, air temperature may drop as far as -15° C… -17° C, according to Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday, 28 November, the sky will be covered in clouds. At times, mostly in eastern regions, snowing will bring up to 3 cm of snow. Certain roads in Latvia will become slippery: motorists should be careful when planning their trips. The wind will be slow and will blow from the east. Daytime air temperature will be -2° C… +2° C.
On Tuesday, 29 November, the sky will be cloudy. Some local snowfall is expected during the day. A wide precipitation zone will pass through the country from the south. The wind will be slow and will blow from the east. Air temperature at night and during the day is expected to be -2° C… +3° C.
Roads will be slippery in most of the country.
From mid-week onward colder masses of air will flow to the country, causing air temperature to go down rapidly at night and during the day: -1° C… -6° C (0° C… +2° C along the coast in Kurzeme).
Although at the end of the week the sky will be mostly cloudy, there will be moments of clear sky. Meteorologists predict the majority of precipitation will come on Thursday, 1 December. Friday, 2 December, will be mostly dry.
On Thursday, air temperature will stay within -3° C… -8° C (+1° C… -3° C in western regions). On Friday, however, air temperature will start going down more rapidly. In eastern parts of the country air temperature at night and during the day will stay within -7° C… -14° C (-1° C… -7° C in western parts of the country).
According to meteorologists, current forecasts suggest more snow will come on the weekend, mostly in eastern regions, however. At night air temperature may drop as far as -15° C… -17° C. Daytime air temperature will remain below zero.
