What did Ozzy Osbourne think of politicians?

The rock musician known as the “Prince of Darkness” passed away on the 22nd of July, but future generations will be left with not only the enormous impact that Osbourne left on the development of the heavy music genre, but also stories about his eccentric behavior and statements, including about politicians, which were compiled by the “Politico”.

Osbourne left this earth just three weeks after a concert in which he performed for the first time since 2025 with his bandmates from “Black Sabbath” and the loudest names in the world of heavy music.

Over the years, Osbourne met many of the world’s greats on stage, and in 1984 he even released a T-shirt emblazoned with the words “Ozzy for President”.

In his 2009 book I Am Ozzy, Osbourne wrote about his encounter with British politician Tony Blair that he was uncomfortable around politicians, and described Blair as a likely good person and very charming: “But I couldn’t get over the fact that our young soldiers were dying out in the Middle East and he could still find the time to hang around with pop stars.” The musician said that Blair, who played in a band during his studies, had said that he had never been able to play Black Sabbath’s classic Iron Man. “I wanted to say, ‘F**k me, Tony, that’s a staggering piece of information, that is.

I mean, you’re at war with Afghanistan, people are getting blown up all over the place, so who honestly gives a f**k

that you could never work out the chords to Iron Man?”

In 2002, Osbourne was invited to dinner at the White House. At the time of the dinner, George W. Bush showed a video of his vice president, Dick Cheney, imitating urinating on the Oval Office door, which was a clear nod to the musician. In 1982, he urinated on a monument erected in honor of the Battle of the Alamo. After the incident, Osbourne was banned from being in San Antonio and entering the city. The ban was later lifted. Osbourne himself, however, announced after the dinner that he had drunk three bottles of wine before the dinner and that Bush was “an ass.” The musician also stated that he found both Bush and Clinton strange, and that he did not understand Bush at all, but that Hillary Clinton was pleasant.

Osbourne was also one of many musicians who complained about the use of his music in Donald Trump’s campaigns. The musician and his wife released a statement saying that neither Trump nor any other politician should use his music in their campaigns. They also called for music requests from other musicians, such as Kid Rock.

During the pandemic,

Osbourne criticized Trump’s attitude, stating that he “acts like a fool,”

and said that regardless of whether one trusts the government or not, whether one trusts virologists or not, one should listen to what he says: wear a mask, wash your hands, and keep your distance. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the rock star said: “If I was running for president, I would try and find out a little bit about politics. Because the f**king guy you’ve got in there now doesn’t know that much about it, I don’t think.”

Osborne also said about politicians in general that they should all get together in one big group and try to play.
