Russia is at risk of workforce shortage, which may lead to a drop in the growth of the national economy and rapid inflation, as mentioned in the report from the British Ministry of Defence on the situation on the front in Ukraine.
According to British intelligence experts, over the last three years Russia’s population has declined by two million more than previously expected.
The report mentions that mobilisation, high emigration, as well as ageing and population decline limit the availability of workforce.
In 2022 up to 1.3 million people left the country, including young and well-educated people employed in sectors with high added value.
Russian Ministry of Communications estimates that 100 000 IT sector workers have left the country. This accounts for 10% of the people employed in this sector.
