On Friday, weather conditions will still be influenced by a cold pressure trough. Skies will be partly cloudy, but no significant precipitation is expected. With light winds, fog and mist will form in some areas, reducing visibility, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
At night, air temperatures will drop to between -2°C and +3°C, while along the western coast of the Gulf of Riga it will be slightly warmer, ranging from +3°C to +8°C. During the day, temperatures will gradually rise to only +10°C…+13°C.
On Saturday, variable cloud cover is expected across Latvia, though in the afternoon the skies will gradually become overcast. No significant rainfall is forecast during the day, so conditions will remain dry. Fog is likely to form in some areas at night and in the early morning. Winds will be light overnight, but will strengthen during the day – southeasterly and easterly winds will become gusty, with gusts reaching 15–19 m/s in coastal areas and also in Kurzeme by the afternoon. Nighttime temperatures will fall to -2°C…+2°C, while coastal areas will be a bit milder at +2°C…+6°C.
Daytime temperatures will stay around +10°C…+13°C.
On Sunday, the skies will be mostly cloudy, with only occasional glimpses of sunshine. Already during the night, a large precipitation zone will move in from the west, bringing rain to much of the country. Moderate to moderately strong southerly and southeasterly winds are expected, with gusts reaching 15–19 m/s in western and central regions. Overnight temperatures will remain at +7°C…+11°C, while daytime highs will reach +9°C…+14°C.
The new working week will bring similar weather – mostly cloudy skies and precipitation expected in most parts of the country. In the first half of the week, winds will ease slightly, but in the second half, as a new cyclone approaches, gusty winds will return across wider areas. At the start of the week, with warmer air masses arriving from the south, both nighttime and daytime temperatures will range from +11°C to +16°C, but by the end of the week it will gradually turn cooler again.
