In the coming days there will be precipitation at times. A wider precipitation area will reach Latvia at the very end of November, when many areas will experience lasting snowfall. As a result, the layer of snow will grow significantly, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
“In the middle of the week weather will remain cold. At night, air temperature will drop to -15° C. The beginning of December will not be much different weather-wise. Low air temperature together with regular snowing will make roads and walkways slippery, so I urge everyone to be very careful,” meteorologists say.
The last week of November will start off with cloudy and sunny weather mixed. In eastern parts of Latvia there will be more clouds. Snowing is expected in some areas. Precipitation will be more intensive on Tuesday, the 28th of November.
The layer of snow may grow by 5 – 9 cm.
Slow to moderate wind will be replaced by south-western and south wind in the morning on Tuesday. At night air temperature will drop to -5° C… -10° C at times. In western areas air temperature may drop as far as -10° C… -15° C. Daytime air temperature will range between -1° C and -6° C. On Tuesday air temperature along the coast will be at 0° C, according to Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Meteorologists say that in the middle of the week there will be more precipitation and more winter weather, because a precipitation zone will be passing through Latvia, bringing lasting and intense snowfall. The layer of snow will continue growing. On Wednesday the wind will blow from the north and north-east, causing a blizzard in many parts of the country. Snowing will also severely affect visibility. Roads will remain slippery. Air temperature, similarly to the beginning of the week, will remain below -5° C all day.
Weather will be calm in the first days of December. Snowflakes will be falling from the sky at times, but the overall intensity of precipitation will be lower when compared to previous days. Air temperature in most of the country will remain negative.
