In the second half of the week, the weather in Latvia will become increasingly rainy again. On Thursday, precipitation is expected mainly in the central and eastern regions, with heavy downpours and thunderstorms likely in the eastern part of the country during the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Winds on Thursday will continue to blow lightly to moderately from the south, but during thunderstorms, gusts may reach 15–19 m/s. By Friday, the wind will calm and become light. Nighttime temperatures will remain between +5°C and +11°C, while Thursday’s daytime highs will reach +15°C to +20°C in nearly all areas. On Friday, however, daytime temperatures will mostly stay below +15°C.
On Friday, rain will affect most of the country, with prolonged rainfall expected in the east. Due to frequent and persistent precipitation, flooding may occur in low-lying areas and water levels in rivers and lakes may rise.
The weekend will bring a change in weather—while Saturday is still expected to see intense rainfall across much of the country, Sunday will become drier as an anticyclone gains influence. Nighttime temperatures will fall to +3°C to +8°C, with possible ground frost in some areas. Daytime temperatures will range from +10°C to +16°C.
At the start of the new week, mainly dry and moderately warm weather is expected to continue.
