Weather in Latvia during the holidays: cloudy, locally rainy, and cool

On Friday and Saturday, skies will be mostly cloudy, with some clearing during the daytime in places. During the second half of Friday night, light rain is possible in parts of eastern Latvia, while no precipitation is expected during the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

From the second half of Saturday night, a precipitation zone will move across the country from the west, bringing rain to many areas. In the morning hours, parts of eastern Latvia may also see wet snow.

Fog will form in some areas at night and may persist during the daytime in eastern regions, reducing visibility. Road users are therefore urged to exercise caution. Southerly to south-westerly winds will be light to moderate, with coastal gusts reaching up to 15 m/s on Friday and during the night into Saturday. Night-time temperatures will fall to between 0 and +5°C, while the Kurzeme coast will be slightly warmer on Saturday. Daytime temperatures will rise only to +2 to +7°C.

On Sunday, skies will remain cloudy, with only occasional glimpses of sunshine.

Light rain is possible in parts of eastern Latvia during the night, but no significant precipitation is expected during the day. Winds will be light to moderate from the west and south-west, turning west to north-west from midday and gradually weakening. Both night-time and daytime temperatures will remain within the +2 to +7°C range.

The holiday week will begin with mostly cloudy conditions, with only brief sunny spells. Light precipitation is expected in many areas, mainly rain, though as the holidays approach, light snowfall may occur in some places. However, no significant snow cover is expected to form. Winds will remain light to moderate.

As colder air masses move into Latvia, temperatures will turn negative across much of the country both day and night, leading to icy road conditions. During the holiday period, temperatures in parts of eastern Latvia could drop as low as −10°C. In the second half of the week, precipitation will remain limited, while temperatures are expected to gradually rise again.
