Ukrainian intelligence has acquired information that Russia considers a terror act at Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), claims Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“In regards to Zaporizhzhia NPP I would like to remind everyone in case you’ve forgotten: it is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
Russia is using Zaporizhzhia NPP as an element in their aggression.
They take the station. Use it as cover to shell nearby cities. Use it to store arms and military personnel. Now our intelligence has acquired information that Russia considers organising a terror act at Zaporizhzhia NPP. A terror act with radiation leak. They have made preparations for it,” claims the Ukrainian president.
Zelensky stresses that he has had to remind others of the fact that radiation knows no borders many times. “The wind decides where it goes. We thereby hand all information available to us to our partners – everyone around the world.
All evidence. Europe, America, China, Brazil, India, the Arab world, Africa – all countries, everyone needs to know this. International organisation. Everyone.
Terrorist attacks on nuclear power plants must not happen anywhere. This time must not be like it was with Kakhovka: the world is warned, so the world can and must act,” said the Ukrainian president.
Zaporizhzhia NPP has been under control of Russian occupation forces since March 2022. According to Unian, Russian forces also use the NPP as a military base.
Experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency warn that fighting at the NPP could cause a enormous catastrophe.
The head of Ukrainian Intelligence Service Kiril Budanov claims Russian forces have set up explosives at the nuclear power plant. According to him, the worst is that they have set up explosives at the coolant equipment.
