European Council President Charles Michel visited Kyiv on Ukraine’s Day of Dignity, the 10th anniversary of the mass protests that overturned the Moscow-backed President and pushed Kyiv in a pro-Western direction. The gesture of support came amid the ongoing Russian invasion and ahead of a possible agreement by European Union (EU) leaders to start formal talks on Ukraine’s EU accession, reports Reuters.
“Good to be back in Kyiv – among friends” Michel wrote on the X, posting a photo of him shaking hands with EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova at the Kyiv train station.

President Zelenskiy expressed his commitment to Ukraine’s EU membership
despite the ongoing war, noting that candidate status and accession negotiations should lead to full EU membership.
