Thierry Baudet, leader of the Dutch far-right party Forum for Democracy (FvD), was attacked with a beer bottle while campaigning in Groningen ahead of Wednesday’s parliamentary elections, with the attacker hitting Baudet several times on the head. It was the second attack during his campaign, citing his party, reports Politico.
His party said on the platform X (formerly Twitter) that Thierry Baudet suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital for medical treatment and that also a security guard was injured.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte condemned the attack on platform X and reiterated the need not to “touch” politicians.
According to Politico, the attacker allegedly shouted anti-fascist slogans. In a previous incident in October, he was hit on the head with an umbrella and the attacker allegedly shouted “no to fascism, no to Putinism”.
Baudet is known for his anti-immigration and pro-Russian views, as well as for promoting conspiracy theories, including that Hungarian-born American investor and philanthropist George Soros manufactured COVID-19 and that the world is controlled by “evil reptilians”, according to Politico.
