VID director: Latvia’s state budget plan exceeded by 7% so far

In the first half-year of 2022 Latvia’s budget collected 7% more taxes than planned, as confirmed by State Revenue Service (VID) director general Ieva Jaunzeme in an interview to TV3 programme 900 seconds on Wednesday, 13 July.
«We estimate the plan has been exceeded by 7%, which is a lot,» said Jaunzeme.
She also said the amount collected in labour tax in the first six months alone exceeds the plan by a quarter.
«This means wages are on a rise and people pay taxes off them,» said Jaunzeme.
At the same time, the head of VID adds that based on available estimates, part of the labour tax growth comes from the people who have left the grey economy.
