Variable midweek weather – local showers, warm but humid weekend ahead

On Wednesday, skies will be mostly cloudy, with some clearing expected in central regions during the day. Rain is forecast overnight in eastern areas and during the day in parts of western Latvia, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. Fog may form in some areas overnight, reducing visibility. Winds will be light.

Nighttime temperatures will remain between +6°C and +10°C, with a few degrees cooler in the far western and eastern regions. During the day, temperatures will rise to +20°C to +24°C, while coastal areas in Kurzeme and parts of eastern Latvia will see cooler temperatures between +14°C and +19°C.

In the afternoon, with the sun shining, UV radiation levels will be moderately high, and meteorologists advise against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Thursday and Friday will remain mostly cloudy, with occasional clearing. Rain is expected overnight in eastern regions and on Friday night also in the west. On Thursday, rain may also fall during the day in the east. On Thursday evening and early Friday night, heavy thunderstorms are possible in the far eastern regions. On Friday, rain is expected in only a few areas. Winds will remain light, turning from the west on Thursday and becoming light to moderate. Overnight temperatures will drop to +10°C to +15°C, and Friday night will be a few degrees cooler. Daytime highs will reach +14°C to +20°C, with coastal areas in Kurzeme seeing slightly lower temperatures of +11°C to +14°C.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected throughout the weekend, with showers likely in many parts of the country. However, temperatures will remain relatively mild. Overnight lows will stay between +9°C and +12°C, while daytime highs will reach +15°C to +20°C across most of the country.
