US worried about Israel’s plans to expand settlements in the West Bank

The Israeli government wants to expand residential areas and plans to build about 5,700 new homes in the occupied West Bank, writes the BBC.
The announcement of the expansion comes despite pressure from the United States to stop the expansion of the colonized sites. The US representative stated that Washington is worried about the development of events.
Palestinians killed four Israeli settlers in mid-June, provoking violence. Conflicts between Israelis and Palestinians have intensified again after Benjamin Netanyahu became prime minister again last year.

According to the information provided by Peace Now, a group opposed to the expansion of Israeli territories, in the last six months, about 13 thousand buildings have been newly built in the West Bank for the new settlers. This is three times more than last year for the whole year.

THE US REPRESENTATIVE HAS CONDEMNED THE EXPANSION OF SETTLEMENTS,

indicating that they increase tensions and further erode mutual trust.
Israel’s new plans include an additional thousand houses in Eli. The government announced this after four Israelis were killed in the shooting. The Palestinian group Hamas has claimed responsibility for it. After the shooting, mobs of settlers went to destroy Palestinian villages, burning houses and killing one Palestinian. Authorities have condemned the violence and hooliganism, which in turn has drawn anger from the far-right forces of the Israeli government.
