US school shooting takes 21 lives

In the US, a young man is suspected of having killed 21 people and injured over than a dozen more in a gun attack in a school, British news portal The Guardian reports.
The attack on pupils of the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, took place on Tuesday, May 24. An 18-year-old man, identified by police as Salvador Ramos, is suspected of having opened fire in an elementary school in Texas resulting in the death of 19 students and two adults. The man is suspected of having shot his grandmother at her home and injured over a dozen more people at the school.

Local police announced that Ramos was killed after the shooting as the motive of the suspect was not immediately clear and he it is believed he acted alone. Texas state senator Roland Gutierrez commented that the suspected gunman bought two rifles on his 18th birthday, becoming the owner of two assault-style rifles. «That was the first thing he did on his 18th birthday,» the Texas state senator announced.
The Guardian reports that US President Joe Biden addressed the American nation on Tuesday night, delivering an emotional speech, calling for «common sense» gun laws and said: «It’s time to turn this pain into action.»
