US reiterates it does not encourage Ukrainian drone strikes inside Russia

On Mondays, the 23rd of August, a US State Department spokesperson, following Russia’s announcement of downing attack drones aimed at Moscow on Monday’s early morning, clarified that the US neither encourages nor supports such attacks within Russia, reports Reuters.
The spokesperson reiterated that Ukraine holds the authority to determine its defense against the ongoing Russian invasion since February. The US emphasized that Russia could halt the conflict by withdrawing from Ukrainian territory.

Since May’s destruction of drones near the Kremlin, instances of drone strikes within Russia have risen, including attacks on the capital.

Despite substantial aid to Ukraine in countering the Russian invasion, the US consistently maintains its stance against endorsing attacks inside Russia.
On the 23rd of August, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced the interception of

three drones, with one hitting a central Moscow building under construction, causing no casualties.

Temporarily, flights were halted at Moscow airports due to increased Ukrainian drone activity, as per TASS news agency.
On the 22nd of August, Russia’s Defence Ministry reported the successful interception of two Ukrainian drones over Moscow and two more near the Ukraine border in the Bryansk region.
Although Ukraine typically avoids specifying attackers on Russia, it appears to have escalated actions since May.
