Up to +27°C – summer returns to Latvia

On Thursday and Friday, the centre of an anticyclone will be positioned over Latvia, bringing more summery weather, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

Cloud cover will be minimal, although on Friday during the day it will increase in some areas, bringing short-term rain and possibly thunderstorms. With light winds, fog will form in places in the east on Wednesday night into Thursday morning, reducing visibility. Night-time temperatures will drop to +7…+12°C, with coastal areas being a few degrees warmer, while daytime highs will reach +22…+27°C.

Over the weekend, the weather will turn wetter again,

winds will strengthen, and temperatures will trend downward. By the end of the week, night-time lows will not fall below +10°C, while daytime highs will be in the range of +17…+22°C, with Sunday being a few degrees cooler.

While Latvia’s weather has not been particularly warm, another heatwave has swept across Europe, breaking several temperature records – in some places exceeding +40°C. Due to heat and drought, wildfires have broken out in certain regions, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre reported.
