In April 2022 actual unemployment rate in Latvia constituted 6.8 %, and, compared to March, it has decreased by 0.3 percentage points.
In April unemployment rate among females fell by 0.2 percentage points (reaching 5.7 %) and among males by 0.3 percentage points (7.9 %), according to data of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSP).
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (NVA) accounted for 6.5 %, and since March it has dropped by 0.3 percentage points. Compared to the April of the previous year, actual unemployment rate has decreased by 1.2 percentage points and registered unemployment rate by 1.4 percentage points.
In April 2022, in Latvia there were 64.0 thousand unemployed persons (26.9 thousand females and 37.2 thousand males), which is 2.6 thousand people fewer than in March and 10.0 thousand people fewer than in the corresponding period a year ago. The number of unemployed males has dropped by 1.6 thousand over the month and that of females by 0.8 thousand.
The registered unemployment rate in the NVA is calculated using data on registered unemployed persons held by the Agency and data on the active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age provided by the CSP. The actual unemployment rate is calculated using unadjusted monthly estimates that are based on results of the conducted survey.
