Unemployment level in Latvia “within the norm” but still higher than EU’s average

In August 2023 the unemployment level in Latvia was 6.6%, which is higher than the average unemployment level in the European Parliament and Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat.

Sweden and Estonia (7.6% in both),

as well as Italy and France (7.3% in both).
Unemployment was the lowest in August in the Czech Republic (2.5%), Malta (2.7%), Poland (2.8%) and Germany (3%).

Unemployment was 6.1% in Lithuania.

In the EU the average unemployment level, according to seasonally adjusted data, was 5.9% in August. In Eurozone the average was 6.4%. Eurostat data indicates there were 12.837 million jobless people in the European Union, with 10.856 million of them in Eurozone.
