Unemployment level in Latvia is higher than average in the EU and Eurozone

In February 2024 the unemployment level in Latvia was 6.9%, which is higher than the average in the European Union (EU) and Eurozone, according to data reported by Eurostat.
According to this data, unemployment was higher in Spain (11.5%), Greece (11%), Sweden (8.1%), Estonia (7.7%), Finland (7.6%), Italy (7.5%), Lithuania and France (7.4% in both).
Unemployment was the lowest in the Czech Republic (2.6%), Poland (2.9%), Slovenia (3.1%), Malta and Germany (3.2% in both).
In the EU, according to seasonally adjusted data, unemployment was at 6%, whereas in Eurozone member states it was 6.5%.
Data from Eurostat shows that in February there were 13.249 million jobless people in the bloc. 11.102 million of them were in Eurozone member states.
