In May 2022 actual unemployment rate in Latvia constituted 6.5 % and compared to April it has reduced by 0.3 percentage points.
Unemployment rate among females fell by 0.2 percentage points (down to 5.5 %) and among males by 0.4 percentage points (reaching 7.5 %), according to results of the Labour Force Survey conducted by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) accounted for 6.1 %, and since April it has dropped by 0.4 percentage points. Compared to the May of the year before, actual unemployment rate has declined by 1.3 percentage points and registered unemployment rate by 1.5 percentage points.

In May 2022, in Latvia there were 61.2 thousand unemployed persons (25.8 thousand females and 35.4 thousand males), which is 2.8 thousand fewer than in April and 12.1 thousand fewer than in the corresponding period a year ago. Over the month, the number of unemployed men reduced by 1.8 thousand and of unemployed women by 1.1 thousand.
The registered unemployment rate in the SEA is calculated using data on registered unemployed persons held by the Agency and data on active population (employed and unemployed persons) of working age provided by the bureau. Actual unemployment rate is estimated based on not adjusted monthly survey results.
