In July 2022 unemployment in Latvia was at 6.5%, which is higher than average in the European Union, but lower than average in Eurozone, according to data published by Eurostat on Thursday, 1 September.
According to data from Eurostat, unemployment among EU member states in the middle of July was the highest in Spain – 12.5%, followed by Greece – 11.4%.
Unemployment was the lowest in the Czech Republic (2.3%), Poland (2.6%), Germany and Malta (2.9% in both), as well as Hungary (3.5%).
In the context of Baltic States, however, unemployment was the highest in Latvia (6.5%), followed by Estonia (5.8%) and Lithuania (5.2%).
The average unemployment level in the EU, according to seasonally adjusted data, was 6% in July, whereas the average in Eurozone was 6.6%.
Eurostat data indicates that in June there were 12.959 million jobless people in the bloc. 10.983 million of them were in Eurozone.
