Unemployment in Latvia remains at 6.3% in February

The registered level of unemployment At the end of February the registered level of unemployment in Latvia was 6.3% of the economically active population, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of February 2023 there were 55 707 unemployed people registered with NVA, which is 422 people more than a month prior, when 55 285 unemployed people were registered with the agency.
The lowest unemployment level was observed in Riga region – 4.6% of the economically active population there, which is 0.1 percentage points more than a month prior. The highest unemployment level was in Latgale region – 13%, which is as high as a month prior.

In February there was an increase in unemployment in Kurzeme – by 0.1 percentage points, reaching 6.9% of economically active residents there by the end of the month.

At the same time, the level of unemployment registered in Vidzeme and Zemgale did not change in February and was 6.7% and 6.3% respectively.

The unemployment level did not change in Riga either, staying at 4.5% of the number of economically active population there.

At the end of 2022 the registered level of unemployment in Latvia was 6.1% of the economically active population.
