At the end of October, as at the end of September, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.1% of the economically active population, according to information published by the State Employment Agency (NVA).
At the end of October 2024, a total of 44 889 unemployed people were registered with the NVA, 406 more than a month earlier, when 44 483 unemployed people were registered with the Agency.
The lowest registered unemployment rate at the end of October was still in the Riga region – 4% of the economically active population, which is 0.1 percentage point more than at the end of September, while the highest registered unemployment rate was in the Latgale region – 10.3%, which is the same as a month earlier.
The fastest increase in registered unemployment in October was in Kurzeme – by 0.2 percentage points, accounting for 4.9% of the economically active population at the end of the month.
However, in Zemgale and Vidzeme, the registered unemployment rate remained unchanged in October and stood at 4.8% and 5% of the economically active population at the end of the month, respectively.
At the end of last year, the registered unemployment rate in Latvia was 5.7% of the economically active population.
