Ukraine says it launched a “special operation” in Crimea

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence (HUR) has announced that on the night of Thursday, the 24th of August, Ukrainian naval forces and military intelligence carried out a “special operation” with Ukrainian troops in Russian-occupied Crimea, reports Reuters.
The operation aims to showcase that Ukrainian forces have ground operation capabilities in Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
A video accompanied the HUR statement, showing a motorboat near the coast at night. HUR identified the landing site near Olenivka and Mayak,

achieving all objectives with inflicted enemy losses. The Ukrainian flag was reportedly raised in Crimea again.

Russia has not responded.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky pledged to end Russian occupation of Crimea on August 23.
