On Monday, the 28th of August, Ukraine announced that its troops had liberated the settlement of Robotyne in the South-East and were trying to advance further South in a counter-attack against Russian forces, according to Reuters.
According to military sources deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar announced that
“Robotyne has been liberated.”
The settlement is positioned ten kilometres south of the frontline town of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region, on a vital route to Tokmak, a crucial Russian-occupied road and railway junction. The unverified reports of Ukraine reclaiming Robotyne
coincide with media coverage of a recent meeting between senior NATO military leaders and a Ukrainian general, discussing a potential revision of Ukraine’s military strategy.
Meanwhile in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian forces are engaged in combat against Russian troops, with Maliar describing the situation as “very hot”. She also noted that last week, Ukrainian forces recaptured a square kilometre around Bakhmut, while Russian troops did not achieve success.
Reuters also reports that on the night of Monday, the 28th of August, two people were killed in a Russian missile attack on a vegetable oil plant in Ukraine’s central Poltava region, Governor Dmitry Lunin and a presidential official said.
In a Telegram post, Lunin stated that two individuals were killed, two were hospitalized, and the whereabouts of two others remained unknown.
Simultaneously, Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, via Telegram said that
people were working on the night shift.
Day earlier, on Sunday, the 27th of August, according to authorities as Reuters reports, Russia launched an airstrike on Ukraine, firing missiles across northern and central parts of the country. Ruslan Kravchenko, the Kiev region’s governor, reported that two individuals were injured, and ten buildings sustained damage from rocket debris in the attack.
