Ukraine holds positions; leaders of Western countries meet in Munich

A meeting of politicians and military leaders with Ukrainian officials is planned in Munich to jointly address security issues in Ukraine, where the army is trying to repel attacks on the front line, writes Reuters.
Tens of thousands of reservists have been added to the Russian army, and the new offensive, which has been talked about for some time, is beginning to take shape. On the 16th of February Russia shelled the entire territory of Ukraine and hit its largest oil refinery. Out of at least 36 missiles fired by Russia, 16 were shot down. Missiles were also used in the attack, which the Ukrainian army had no chance of intercepting, thus the issue of the urgent supply of weapons from the west is becoming more and more urgent.
French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and US Vice President Kamala Harris will also participate in the Munich Security Conference. Last year, the meeting took place a few days before the start of the war. At that time, Russian soldiers were gathered at the borders of Ukraine.
Russian representatives will not participate in the conference, while senior Ukrainian officials are expected to attend.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in his address on the evening of the 16th of February emphasized that the main thing now is to hold the positions and prepare for a counterattack.

Russia is still focused on taking Bakhmut, and in these battles, the mercenaries Wagner’s group, whose ranks also include criminals recruited from prisons, are playing a significant role. Most of the 70,000 inhabitants who lived in Bakhmut before the war left it, and Uranian soldiers set up positions in the city.
The press officer of the Ukrainian 80th Air Force Unit, Taras Dzyoba, said about the Russian attacks that many soldiers are sent in the attacks, and the Russians simply leave the wounded and fallen.
The owner of the Wagner Group, Yevgenii Prigozhin, has indicated that the capture of Bakhmut by the mercenaries could take weeks or even months. It is said that it depends on the Ukrainian army’s human resources and the Wagnerites’ supply.
The Munich Security Conference will resume the long-running debate about how much Europe should provide itself with military equipment and equipment, and how much it can rely on the United States. Meanwhile, Moldovan police report that missile debris has been found again near the Ukrainian border.
Belarus, which at the beginning of the war allowed its territory to be used to bring Russian soldiers into Ukraine, has announced that it will only engage in hostilities if attacked.
