Last week the Ukrainian army commenced attacks in multiple directions. According to information available for Monday, 26th of June, Ukrainian forces have progressed forward 2 km, as reported by Ukrainian deputy Minister of Defence Hanna Maliar on Telegram.
“Our armed forces in the east commenced counter-offensive in Orikhovo-Vasilivka, Bakhmut, Bohdanivka, Yahidne, Klischiyivka and Kurdyumivka regions,” said the deputy minister.
“And in each of those regions there has been progress of 1 km.
Currently our forces are taking positions and continue eliminating the enemy,” she added.
At the same time, Russian forces started their own attacks in Liman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka and Maryinka directions, said the deputy minister.
Last week there were 250 battles in the aforementioned directions.
Russian forces have not been able to push Ukrainian army from their newly-taken positions. Heavy fighting continues, Maliar said.
No significant changes have been observed in the southern parts of the country.
“Ukrainian defence forces continue offensive operations in the direction of Melitopol and Berdyansk. Over the course of the week, improvement of the operational and straightening of the front line has freed up 17 km2 of territory.”
In total, since the start of the counter offensive Ukraine has freed 130 km of territory.
Russian forces offer intense resistance, but they still suffer major losses in manpower and equipment, according to the Ukrainian deputy minister.
She also mentioned that last week Russians suffered eight times more losses than Ukrainian attacking forces.
