Ukraine after 7th night of war: Street fighting in Kherson, fire fight at Kharkiv hospital, Kyiv holds on

In Ukraine, the morning of Wednesday, March 2, has come with Russian occupation forces trying to seize the city of Kherson in the south and second largest city Kharkiv in north-east. Meanwhile, the defence of the capital Kyiv has not been overcome despite heavy bombardment, British broadcaster BBC reports.
In Kherson, formerly a city of 280 000 people, there is Russian military on the streets. It has captured some key infrastructure, but the city’s defenders are fighting against Russian troops.
The city’s mayor, Igor Kolykhayev, had told local radio that many people had died including Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, and government officials were now trying to make sure people could leave or get to shelters.

Russia’s strongest military advances so far have been in the south of Ukraine, where the occupation forces from Crimea are targeting several Ukrainian cities including Odesa and Mykolaiv.
Kharkiv is reported to be besieged, but not taken. A fire fight has taken place at a military hospital overnight. Kharkiv Region Police Chief Volodymyr Tymoshko told reporters on Wednesday that no Ukrainian troops were killed in the gun battle. «Currently the situation near the hospital is under control, security has been strengthened,» Tymoshko stated according to Ukrainian media.
Kyiv has continued to be under bombardment overnight. Five people have died after Russia attacked a TV tower in the capital, hitting nearby broadcast facilities, BBC reports quoting Ukrainian officials.
