Former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson, whose arrival in Moscow has sparked speculations that he could become the first Western journalist to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin during the war in Ukraine, did not reveal his cards to reporters on Monday, the 5th of February, reports Reuters.
Pictures have emerged in Russian media showing Carlson at several locations in Moscow, including the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre box and eating at a hotel.
Fox News Tucker Carlson expressed his admiration for Moscow in an interview with the Izvestiya newspaper, describing it as beautiful, but when asked about the possibility that
he had come to Moscow to interview Putin, he said with a smile: “We’ll see.”
The Kremlin, in response to questions about Tucker Carlson’s possible interview with President Putin, said they do not comment on the activities of foreign journalists.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stressed that many foreign journalists come to Russia every day, and many continue to work here, and that Russia welcomes this, but that there will be no announcements about interviews between the President and foreign media.
According to Reuters, in December, Carlson launched a new subscription-based video streaming service to capitalise on his popularity among conservative US voters. His interview with former President Donald Trump, published on X last August, has garnered more than 267 million views, according to the website.
