On Monday, the 21st of August, former US President Donald Trump announced that he will voluntarily surrender to prosecutors in Atlanta on Thursday, the 24th of August, following an indictment last week by a Georgia state grand jury, Trump faces racketeering charges related to his actions aimed at disrupting the 2020 presidential election in that state, Politico reports.
Trump wrote on Truth Social on Monday night:
“I’m going to Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday to be arrested.”
calling the case a “witch hunt” and attacking Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is leading the investigation against Trump and his associates.
As previously reported by BNN, Willis said last week that she is giving all 19 defendants named in the 98-page indictment until Friday, the 25th of August, to voluntarily surrender.
A day after the Republican party’s (GOP) presidential primaries debate, which he says he will not participate in, Trump, the frontrunner, faces arrest.
